Many bug sprays contain the chemical DEET (N,N-diethyl-m-tulanide) in concentrations ranging from 5 to 100 percent. It repels many
insects, including ticks, but some people are unable or unwilling to use chemical repellents. In addition, DEET can
degrade certain plastics, damaging flyrods, lines and
leaders, and bow and gun finishes.
